Exclusive Interview with Lifestyle Blogger – Julia

Published by Jeet Tan on

What is going on guys. We’re back with another blog post.

As you know, as part of our mission to not only be a business that helps you evolve in your marketing, we’re also here to help you expand your perspective from different people in different professions.

As a copywriter, I’m a writer – a writer for sales. But I believe there can be alot to learn from other types of writing as well, such as journaling, content and fiction.

This is why I brought in a guest for today, her name is Julia and she runs a lifestyle blog talking about personal development, based in the United States. She is also very well versed in the art of journaling which she has alot to share with us today.

Welcome Julia!

1. Hi, can you give me a quick introduction about yourself and what you do?

My name is Julia. I am a 24-year-old content creator. I share social media posts and blog posts with tips to inspire others. I am passionate about self-improvement and doing what I can to live the best life possible. I enjoy sharing my experiences to hopefully reach and support anyone who relates.

2. How did you get started in your industry? What was the reason for it?

I started posting on TikTok and Instagram for fun in 2021. I liked the aesthetic lifestyle content I saw other creators sharing. I felt inspired to share similar content in my own way. I liked the idea of being able to reach and inspire like-minded people.

I took this a step further by starting my blog in 2022 as another channel to share positive lifestyle content. I also found different opportunities to pursue UGC. I love that UGC allows me to express myself creatively and help people discover products that they might enjoy as much as I do.

3. Let’s talk about self-care, what’s your opinion on the state of the world and the mental health where you live? (USA)

This is a loaded question. I’m aware, based on statistics, the people around me, and my own experiences, that people in my generation struggle with their mental health, unfortunately. This is why I am so passionate about self-care and providing tools to help people feel their best.

4. Do you journal yourself? What is the point of journaling for those that don’t know? How does it help with mental health, how does it help you with your professional career?

Gratitude journaling is my most consistent journaling habit. Every evening before bed (for the most part), I write a list of things I’m grateful for. I have experimented with many types of journaling, but gratitude journaling is one that I have kept up with for many years.

You don’t need to be a writer to benefit from journaling!

Journaling is a great habit for tapping into your creativity and for clearing your mind. I know I get overwhelmed when I have too many thoughts running through my mind. Externalizing those thoughts through journaling helps me use up less mental energy trying to store all that information in my mind. And gratitude journaling helps me maintain a more positive mindset, which helps me in all aspects of life.

5. Can you describe the most impactful journal entry you’ve had in your journey?

Along with gratitude journaling, I like ending my evenings with this journal prompt:

“Something to look forward to”

I love this practice because it gets me into a more positive headspace and helps me feel more excited for the next day.

One of my main focuses is implementing simple habits that allow me to make the most of life. This is a great example of how you can achieve that.

6. There are a lot of journals as you know, bullet journals, morning pages – WHICH type of journal do you recommend for beginners?

It’s hard to answer this question with a blanket statement. Everyone is different and will benefit from different types of journaling.

My best advice is don’t overcomplicate it. Pick the type of journaling that feels good to you and that you realistically believe you can stick with.

I suggest trying out different journaling styles. Consider this as an experiment, and then stick with what works. Again, don’t overcomplicate things.

If you feel intimidated, journal prompts can give you a good place to start. Pinterest is a good resource for finding journal prompts.

7. How do you stay motivated throughout your journaling? How do you stay motivated as a writer yourself, hands get tired after a long day of writing after all.

As I mentioned, Gratitude Journaling is the only type of journaling I’ve been consistent with for a long time. The benefits keep me motivated. Thinking about things I’m grateful for makes me feel good, which makes me want to continue the habit, creating a positive feedback loop.

My response

I really like Julia’s way of keeping things simple and not overcomplicating things. It seems that the gratitude journal part can be very beneficial for mental health, and also keeping your focus positive. In life, we’re always out there looking for the next thing and the next thing – whereas it’s always best to be focused on the positive and what we have right now in the present moment.

This interview has made me thought about this and perhaps will need to apply more of this in my own life. Thanks Julia!
